Mega 2, one of the leading Spanish companies in the security sector, has been awarded the contract for the surveillance and private security of the most important sporting event of the year in European soccer, the final of the UEFA Champions League, to be held on June 1 at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium in Madrid between two English clubs Tottenham and Liverpool.
The capital-based company, which directly employs thousands of workers, has managed to win this important event, traditionally awarded to the largest companies in the sector in Europe.
The general manager of Mega 2, Sergio De Domingo Ortega, said that "with the awarding of this event we are marking a milestone in the history of our company, which has a team of people accustomed to working in service excellence. We are putting all our knowledge and technology at the service of people and infrastructure surveillance".
UEFA has commissioned Mega 2 not only to provide private security for the match between the two English Premier League clubs Tottenham and Liverpool on June 1 in Madrid, but the Madrid-based company has also been awarded the contract for the Champions League Festival, which is held in the capital during the three days prior to the soccer match.
Some twenty Mega2 executives are coordinating the human and material resources that will involve the deployment of at least 800 security guards, inspectors, coordinators and technicians who will be in charge of private security for the match and the various parallel events taking place in the capital.
Under the name of UEFA Champions League Festival Madrid 2019, a series of events are grouped during the months of May and June that make up the annual event of the host city.
From May 29 to June 2, different scenarios will take place in the capital, from the Puerta del Sol to Callao through the Plaza Mayor will be meeting points for the public and fans who will be able to approach the various enclosures of the sponsors.
Another of the chosen venues will be the Puerta del Sol. Sebastián Yatra, Carlos Vives, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike will perform next to kilometer zero, while an artificial grass pitch has been installed in the Plaza Mayor to host a match of soccer glories including Figo, Roberto Carlos, among other great players in the history of the Champions League.
Another stage, where private security will be provided by Mega 2, is located in the Plaza de Callao, where an Adidas superstorehas been set up to delight international soccer fans.
