Honorable Mention category A for Mega 2 Security in the Day of Private Security in Jaen

Private Security Day is a day of celebration and vindication for the 833 employees that the sector currently has in the province, where 18 authorised companies also work. The event, which was held at IFEMA, served to deliver honorable mentions to 50 professionals who have excelled in the performance of their duties and have helped the National Police and the Civil Guard in the prosecution of crime and the protection of citizens. Therefore, the subdelegada Catalina Madueño thanked "work and professionalism" and "loyal and responsible" cooperation with the State Security Forces and Corps. "We must all work together in the fight against crime, with generosity, coordinated and with the common goal of keeping Jaén as a safe place," insisted the head of the Government in the province.

Three of these honorable mentions were of type A, those that recognize the merits of a security guard in the resolution of a crime and the arrest of the offender, with obvious risk to their physical integrity. Juan Antonio Franco received one of these awards for preventing the escape of an inmate from the Jaén Penitentiary. Another award went to Antonio José López Expósito who, while off duty, witnessed the hit-and-run of a cyclist in Úbeda, followed the driver and held him until the National Police arrived and proceeded to arrest him. The third corresponded to the company Mega2, for its constant collaboration with the Police and the Guardia Civil. "You have all contributed to being a loyal and complementary force," said the subdelegada.

Ana Belén Blanca, a security guard, spoke on behalf of all her colleagues to demand that the new regulations governing the sector come into force. She also demanded that women have more specific weight in the profession and greater social awareness to combat the scourge of gender violence.

In the act, also a review was made of two of the problems that the guild has been suffering for years. The most serious is the intrusion, that of those people and companies that usurp the role of private security and exercise as "pirates". The subdelegada offered his support to the sector to combat this situation. "We must eradicate it from all possible means," he explained. In this regard, in the last year, 16 proposals for sanctions have been raised, eight of them very serious, which result in significant financial penalties. The other major problem that seems to have no end is that of false alarms. So far this year, the warning systems have sounded 688 times. Only 34 were real. This malfunction of the devices is mainly due to "carelessness and forgetfulness" of their owners. In fact, it is estimated that only a small percentage of false alarms are attributable to failures of the security system.
